Hannah Jane Boissonneault is a composer-performer currently based in Fairfax, Virginia. Through her work as a composer, electric bassist and vocalist of her band Blank Slate, her multi-genre project Feels Like Honey, and the bassist and clean vocalist of metalcore band Spirit Breaker, Hannah strives to create music that entwines the various musical communities she is a part of.

Hannah has been commissioned by the Grand Valley State University New Music Ensemble, The Detroit Composers’ Project, and various instrumentalists. She was a composer fellow for the 2021-2022 Gabriela Lena Frank Academy of Music, the 2021 Sō Percussion Summer Institute, the 2020 Unheard of Ensemble Collaborative Composition Initiative, 2019 Atlantic Music Festival, and the 2019 Fresh Inc. Festival. She has participated in reading sessions with ensembles such as Roomful of Teeth and members of the Detroit Symphony Orchestra.

Hannah is an active performing, session, and touring musician, and is an endorsed artist with Balaguer Guitars. She most recently toured with Silent Planet as the bassist and backing vocalist in Spirit Breaker.  

Hannah recently completed her Master of Music in Composition at the University of Michigan, studying with Kristin Kuster and Evan Chambers. She holds her Bachelor of Music in Composition from Michigan State University, where her primary mentors were David Biedenbender, Zhou Tian, and Rodney Whitaker.

 Alongside composing, performing, and teaching, Hannah is also a visual artist and creates artwork with multiple mediums including resin, polymer clay, and acrylics. She enjoys creating jewelry and home décor and sharing her passion for nature through her business, Indie Honeybee Jewelry.
