Hannah Boissonneault, the Michigan-born singer-songwriter/composer/arranger/bassist/guitarist behind Feels Like Honey, combines elements of indie rock and chamber pop in her songs brimming with vulnerability and transformation. Hannah Boissonneault, the Michigan-born singer-songwriter/composer/arranger/bassist/guitarist behind Feels Like Honey, combines elements of indie rock and chamber pop in her songs brimming with vulnerability and transformation. Hannah is an active performing, session, and touring musician, and is an endorsed artist with Balaguer Guitars. she is the bassist, vocalist, and songwriter for progressive metalcore band spirit breaker, her indie rock/chamber pop project feels like honey, and progressive alternative band blank slate.

spirit breaker recently released cura nata, their debut album via solid state records on august 13th, 2021. blank slate has performed alongside numerous acts in the progressive community, including silent planet, hail the sun, sianvar, and strawberry girls. their three eps, “drifting” (2020), “i have considered the following” (2017), and “animate” (2017), along with their three consecutive singles, “figures,” “dedicate,” and “verified” (2019) are available on all streaming platforms. She most recently toured with Silent Planet as the bassist and backing vocalist in Spirit Breaker.

Hannah recently completed her Master of Music in Composition at the University of Michigan, studying with Kristin Kuster and Evan Chambers. She holds her Bachelor of Music in Composition from Michigan State University, where her primary mentors were David Biedenbender, Zhou Tian, and Rodney Whitaker.

 Hannah has been commissioned by the Grand Valley State University New Music Ensemble, The Detroit Composers’ Project, and various instrumentalists. She was a composer fellow for the 2021-2022 Gabriela Lena Frank Academy of Music, the 2021 Sō Percussion Summer Institute, the 2020 Unheard of Ensemble Collaborative Composition Initiative, 2019 Atlantic Music Festival, and the 2019 Fresh Inc. Festival. She has participated in reading sessions with ensembles such as Roomful of Teeth and members of the Detroit Symphony Orchestra.

hannah is currently living in austin, texas. Alongside composing, performing, and teaching music, Hannah is also a visual artist and creates artwork with multiple mediums including resin, polymer clay, and acrylics. She enjoys creating jewelry and home décor and sharing her passion for nature through her business, Indie Honeybee Jewelry.
